Kool-Aid and jogging-but not at the same time
Look what Trek sent me! Now I can dye my new yarn. She sneakily found my address and sent me these. I haven’t had time to check the local stores here to see about the prospects of buying it, so I’m so happy she sent this!! Thanks again. Oh by the way, Trek, I saw your pic on Yarn Harlot’s blog-the one behind the camera, right?
This weekend I was able to finish these two small skeins of self-spun yarn. Some of the yarn broke while I was plying them and I had to make two small skeins instead of one big one. I was able to salvage another break because I didn’t want to have three mini skeins, so I’m hoping it holds . This yarn is much better than my first attempt. I’m so scared to dye it for fear I may felt it or just plain ruin it in some way. I guess I should jump in and hope for the best. I’m going to wait until I’ve spun a bit more before I attempt to dye the whole thing, so I can really knit something cool with it. Does anyone have any good ideas for self-spun yarn besides scarves?
One more thing before I get back to my knitting.
I started running again yesterday because I couldn’t stand my thighs any longer and I need to get myself moving again. How do you feel? Do you need to get going too? Hey it’s spring and those bikinis will be calling us soon. In my case it’s a tent, but bikini sounds better.
I’ve made this new button for our fit sewknitters group.

I’ll have a page on my sidebar with all those who would like to join. There’s not too much to it, all you have to do is get out and move, whether it be yoga at the gym or sit ups in your living room, training for a marathon or taking the stairs instead of the elevator at work, let’s just all get fit together. The button on your blog is to motivate you to keep it up. I won’t be updating, that’ll be your job, but the list will be there so we can peak in and see how you’re doing. Come on in and join us, the waters wonderfully warm.
Why can’t I run and knit at the same time?? I probably wouldn’t come home, I guess.

Nope, I am almost in one of her pics. Actually, you can kind of see my hair. Glad you got the Kool-Aid!

Love the Knit/Fit idea! I run anyway, but it’s more fun with others

They make those portable project bag, but even still, I doubt they’re much good for anything beyond milling around a yarn store, sheep & wool festival, or a light stroll. Great idea.

Count me in! I do cardio using a couple of video games – DDR and Yourself Fitness and I’m trying to get back into yoga. I just hit my 2-year mark of lifting weights and it really does make a difference in how you feel about yourself!

I hear you sister! I went for a power walk on Saturday, and am still sore! Hopefully one day I’ll be able to start exercising regularly again! Your yarn looks good!

I’m in on the knit and fit idea. I am pretty motivated right now but need to keep it up. This will be a good reminder. Right now I walk with baby but in a couple of weeks we’ll be starting up baby and Mom aerobic classes etc.

Great idea! I could certainly use the motivation to get back into shape. At least now the weather is getting warmer, so getting outside to walk is much easier.
Do you think you would have enough handspun yarn to knit mittens? You said you didn’t want to knit a scarf, and the only thing I’ve ever knit from my own handspun is a hat and mitten set for Alexandra. I was afraid that the thick and thin texture of the yarn would make them turn out funny, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well they came out. Can’t wait to see what you decide to do with that yarn!

Your yarn looks good…and I’m sure you’ll do something amazing with it once it’s kool-aided. I have yet to figure out how to put buttons on my sidebar, but when I do, that one is going to be there!

I have visions of you jogging along knitting away! If only.
Hope the dye job goes ok. I too am a bit nervous to start dyeing away, so you must be in bits about not wanting to ruin your yarn.

Count me in! I finaly move my body this Spring – I’ve started bellydance classes 1,5 months ago (once a week) and practice at home on the rest of the weekdays. My husband also bought EyeToy Kinetic last week and we started to practice, this is fun!
I haven’t heard about jogging and knitting, but I was standing in my living room while watching what the tv guy was doing to fix my tv, and knitting! ^^ You should see his face, when he was peeking at the new rows emerging under my fingers! ^-^

Sign me up! I need to stay motivated to hit the gym three days a week and eat right.

Great idea, Kimberlolly! I am in the midst of a fitness makeover (and a lifestyle makeover) so this is right up my alley
Good luck with the running!
Love,
L

You come up with the greatest ideas Kimberly! I have been trying my hardest to walk the dog every day – I am in some serious need of exercise and weightloss and now is the time to get going
It will be fun to see what and how everyone is doing!
Your yarn looks great – you are doing such a good job! I’m glad you got your Kool Aid – I think of you every time I see it
Have a great day!

You are so productive – I haven’t been here for a couple of weeks and all this new stuff! Spinning yarn is something I always wanted to learn – what about a “spin-along” later on in May/june and we could knit something of it afterwards. (Then I need to get me some wool and the thing you use to spin with)
Cool stuff, looking forward to seing it dyed.

A wonderful idea! I’d like to join in as well! It’ll help me keep my eye to the clock on MWF to remember to go to water aerobics and hopefully get me to go even when my body is complaining. (See yesterday’s post on my blog for on topic sort of post even)

I’d like to join! I box on Mondays and walk most days…I’d like to start running, though, and get back to a daily yoga practice…
April 28th, 2006 at 5:02 pm
Count me in! I need the motivation to get back in shape after this past winter. I won’t be able to hide in my sweaters much longer!
April 29th, 2006 at 4:09 am
I’m in. I need something to get me exercising more than one hour a week. I’m with Beverly…I’d like to get back to running and do more yoga.
May 3rd, 2006 at 4:16 pm
I’m in too. Need to get back to yoga practice. Thanks for doing this! One reason I started my knitting blog was as a means to exercise some discipline to my craft (i.e. finish something already!) Now that I’m practically knitting 24/7, it’s a good idea to extend some discipline to other areas of my life too. And it’s great to do it in good company.

Count me in as a fit knitter. I’ll get the button posted later, but it is time to workout, now! Thanks for setting this up for us.

Hi, I’m definitely in – what a great idea! Like Ava, my blog is to help me be more disciplined in finishing my fibre projects. I need some motivation to come back from being run down by an SUV a couple years ago. I will be rejoining my ballet class, attempting to return to weights and my Sister is twisting my arm to come to her bellydance class. Hope I can muster up the same discipline to accomplish any of these!

I am trying to figure out how to knit and exercise at the same time. I just got a stationary bike so that might work….
